THE SPOKANE RIVER CLASSIC

On August 23, 2014 the Spokane River Classic soared back to life as a project of the Spokane Canoe and Kayak Club. It took place in the heart of downtown, calling attention to the importance of the river, and the critical need for access,  for paddlers of all stripes.

The race featured a 1.3-mile citizen's course and a 5.4-mile endurance race, and drew over 140 entrants in all sorts of human-powered craft. A squad of volunteers kept things running smoothly. Food trucks and snack stands, children's activities, and a beer garden extended the festivities onto solid ground.

Watch this space for information on the next running of the Spokane River Classic.
